What is Passpack DESKTOP?
Passpack is an online password manager - that hasn't changed. But there are times when you might not have an internet connection, or simply when you prefer to work offline. That's when Passpack DESKTOP will come in handy.
Do I Need a Passpack Account?
That is your choice. Passpack DESKTOP can be used as a backup tool for Passpack account holders, or on its own.
If you are not a Passpack account holder, you will only be able to access your passwords from your own computer. This is a typical drawback of traditional password managers.

Should I Download Now or Later?
You need an internet connection to download, install and set up Passpack DESKTOP. If you do that now, then you'll be ready should you ever get stuck without access to Passpack.com.
Are There Limitations?
Well, some features require an internet connection by nature so aren't available in Passpack DESKTOP. For example auto-login, anti-phishing and disposable logins.
What Operating Systems are Supported?
Windows and Mac. Linux support is coming soon - since we use Adobe AIR technology, this depends on Adobe. If you need Linux support, please try the Passpack Offline Version on Google Gears.
Desktop or Offline Version? What's the Difference?
Not much really. Passpack DESKTOP is built with Adobe AIR technology and does not require a browser to work. The Offline Version is built with Google Gears technology and DOES require a browser to work. Both will let you access your passwords even without an internet connection. If you use Linux, we suggest the Offline Version.

Installing Passpack DESKTOP
- Get Adobe Air
Download and install it by following Adobe's instructions. If you get a warning, press "Run" and wait for the setup program to finish. - Download Passpack DESKTOP
Save the PasspackDESKTOP-Beta6-2-0.air file to your desktop. Double click it to begin installation. - Set Up Passpack DESKTOP
If you are a Passpack account holder, you should insert your User ID, Pass and Packing Key the first time you open Passpack DESKTOP. This will automatically download a copy of your data.
Afterwards, you will be able to access this copy of your data whenever you wish, no internet connection needed, by simply providing your Packing Key.
If you are not a Passpack account holder, simply choose a local User ID and leave the Pass field blank. You will then be prompted to choose a Packing Key. That's it, you're done. - Synchronizing With Your Online Account
Currently, Passpack DESKTOP lets you download information from your Online account into Passpack DESKTOP -- but not the other way around (we will add this feature soon). To do so, Choose Tools > Synchronize from within your Passpack DESKTOP application, then press the Synchronize button.
